Holiday House London 2017

Holiday House, founded in 2008 by interior designer and breast cancer survivor Iris Dankner, is a showhouse where top designers and lifestyle brands showcase their talent to raise critical funds for the prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Iris Dankner was inspired to combine her two passions — interior design and fundraising for breast cancer research — when she saw a lack of high profile interior design events in the New York City area benefitting this great cause. After its inception in 2008, Holiday House became the first designer showhouse in New York City to benefit a breast cancer organization, attracting talent from across the country to transform the historic Academy Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side each fall. Holiday House has since created a summer expansion in the Hamptons and is now established as one of the premiere showhouses in the country.

Since partnering with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), Holiday House has granted over a million dollars to this renowned charity that invests 91 cents of every dollar to support its mission of ending breast cancer by advancing the world’s most groundbreaking research.

HOLIDAY HOUSE LONDON

In 2017, Holiday House celebrated its tenth year of showhouses with the inaugural Holiday House London. The organisers decided to take Holiday House to London because it is known for being a stylish city with a long history of beautiful interior design and is home to many revered companies that create exquisite home décor. Twenty seven leading architects and designers such as Fiona Barratt Interiors, Nina Campbell, Justin Van Breda, Sophie Paterson Interiors, Rachel Laxer Interiors and others took part.

OLEG KLODT ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN

Oleg Klodt Architecture & Design studio designed the central zone, namely the entrance hall and staircases in one of the two buildings. In this exhibition space, Oleg Klodt, the founder of the company, and Anna Agapova, partner and head of the design department, presented their own furniture and lighting collection, O&A London, as well as a textile collaboration with Holland & Sherry.

The key focus of these collections is on materials and textures, as they unite the interior. Harmony is the essence of the design concept. Created space made it possible to feel the interdependence of nature, people and the external environment.

O&A LONDON FURNITURE COLLECTION

The O&A London furniture collection was created by the leading design team of Oleg Klodt and Anna Agapova. With their focus on the very finest details and combining time-honoured and pioneering methods and materials, they are renowned for producing one-off pieces that harmonise effortlessly with their setting. This is the hallmark of O&A London.

The minimalism and precision of O&A London pieces can be traced back to the luxuriance of the Art-Deco and late Modernism movements and to the clean, sharp lines of Bauhaus. By cherry-picking attributes from these iconic moments in history, O&A London has created something classically-rooted for the contemporary interior. It is a collection that can be said to question the very role of furniture; a fundamentally sculptural approach that embraces the very latest technologies in a skilful balance of ideas and materials, of form and function.
